Can scientists halt the signs of ageing?
Researchers have delayed and even removed the signs of ageing in mice, including the onset of wrinkles, muscle wasting and cataracts. The scientists achieved the treatment by ‘flushing out’ retired cells naturally collected through ageing that no longer divide.

ALADDIN: A wish come true for dementia patients
An innovative eHealth system to support elderly dementia patients and their carers in managing the condition at home is being piloted by a multi-disciplinary research group headed up by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems in Athens. Project Manager Dr Maria Haritou and Technical Manager Dr Yuri Glickman hope ALADDIN could offer an affordable solution for patients, carers and health providers in the future.

AAL Forum 2011 Executive Summary
In September, 2011, more than 600 delegates gathered for the third Annual Ambient Assisted Living Forum, this year held in Lecce, Italy.
