South East England plugs in to Electric Vehicles
Today sees the grand unveiling of the ‘Source East Electric Vehicle Charging Network’ in South East England. The charging scheme will provide a network for the whole of the East of England for electric vehicles, delivering 1200 accessible charging points by 2013 from the M25 to the north Norfolk coast and from the M1 to Felixstowe. Ecotricity will ensure that electricity comes from renewable sources, further lowering the carbon footprint.

First licensed autonomous car drives through Berlin
Researchers from Freie Universität Berlin have developed the autonomous car ‘MadeInGermany’ and test driven it safely on an 80km journey through full Berlin traffic. The VW Passat has been modified so that electronic commands from the controlling computer are passed directly to the accelerator, brakes and steering wheel of the vehicle.
