Researchers take virtual conferencing to new levels
Fraunhofer developers are exploring the possibilities of video conferencing with both business and personal consumer implications.
With the soaring popularity of online conference gaming, in which players need to be in virtual communication with each other despite often being in different hemispheres, researchers are developing engines that aim to improve the quality of this communication. The improvements include echo filters that promise to improve audio quality and do away with the need for participants to wear headsets in order to communicate.
Fraunhofer scientists are already considering the implications of their developments upon other forms of technology, will possible integration into televisions, hi-fi systems and set-top boxes. The hope is that advancements in connectivity solutions will have increasing relativity in a world where more people are living abroad and want better ways to connect to their friends and family.
