Why disseminate?
The success of any research project depends on its ability to bring results to the marketplace.
Rename the EC’s Framework Programme
The EC’s funding programme for research and innovation is set to change its name, and hopes the public can help decide on a new one. The traditional label of ‘Framework Programme’ is to be discontinued and replaced by something more relevant and catchy. Entrants have until May 10th to put forward their suggestions to the EC.
Along with the proposed name change, the EC has already taken steps to simplify the application process for grants and lessen the administrate burden on research projects – cutting the ‘red tape’ as it were. Such measures are aimed at attracting more applicants for grants, boost excellence and ensure more research gets to the market place.
European Commissioner for Research and Innovation; Máire Geoghegan-Quinn said: “The Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development have served Europe well and are still creating growth and jobs and improving quality of life. But our new programme for research and innovation will be a new departure and a new adventure, so we need a new name.”
Geoghegan-Quinn continued: “We need to connect with stakeholders and the public and to raise the political and media profile of our work, which in turn can boost participation and improve results. We want to give the new programme a clear identity reflecting what it actually does and that it won’t be ‘just another Framework Programme’. So I am inviting people to be creative and name it!”
